TSC Science Events

The TSC is committed to providing more information to the science community about current topics and current science needs. The TSC hosts a biennial science conference, as well as smaller, more specific science workshops throughout the year.

The 5th Biennial Lake Tahoe Basin Science Conference is scheduled for March 16-17, 2010. The purpose of this two-day conference is to provide an open forum in which individuals involved in the science and management of the Basin can learn about and discuss the latest relevant science information. A "Call for Abstracts" will be distributed on October 15, 2009. Interested parties will have the opportunity to provide either oral or poster presentations.

A Symposium on SEZ Restoration Project Monitoring in the Tahoe Basin will take place in February 2010. The workshop will explore the approaches and techniques agencies have used to assess the effectiveness of SEZ restoration projects. Please check back for more details.

Tahoe Fact
Lake Tahoe contains 39 trillion gallons of water! If completely drained, Lake Tahoe could cover a flat area the size of California to a depth of 14 inches and would take over 700 years to refill. This is enough to supply everyone in the United States with 50 gallons of water per day for 5 years.
